Sky Legends

Written and directed by Rody Vera

Synopsis

Sky Legends is a sequel to Pintig’s 1993 production of Alamat (Legends), a story of Pat, a Filipino American who reclaims his past from tales and myths that his grandfather and dead father have told in his dreams, his memories and through the stories of his mother. In “Sky Legends”, Pat takes his American-born children on a trip back to the mountains of Kalinga, Northern Philippines to attend the funeral of their great-grandfather, Ohcas. Ochas was among the earliest indigenous Filipos who were brought to the 1904 St. Louis World Exposition in Missouri. Part musical and part urban story, Sky Legends tells of a present day Filipino-American family through the eyes of the daughters, two young women named Claire and Lena, and how they look to their ethnic origins and stories to come to grips with the conflicting claims of identity, loyalty, longing and love.
